Express Your Shelf: F.W. Murnau
Express Your Shelf: F.W. Murnau
One of the greatest artists of the silent era and a key figure in the German Expressionist movement, F.W. Murnau died at just 42 but managed to leave behind a number of masterpieces — including Sunrise, The Laugh Last, and the very first vampire movie, Nosferatu — that are still watched and adored by cinephiles almost a century later.
Resurrecting a 100-year-old movie theater AND L.A.'s most iconic video store takes a passionate village of film lovers, and wow do you fit that description! Now's your chance to show your unbridled love for the movies and Vidiots!
Do you stan Singleton? Go hard for Varda? Get ga-ga for Godzilla? Only a video store can offer you complete (and growing) filmographies, out-of-print gems, undistributed masterpieces, all under one roof, with a staff of experts to guide you to your favorite movie you've never heard of! Here's how it works: for a $300 tax-deductible donation, you can name a favorite section of the video store for the first two years of our new life at the Eagle! Every week, we’ll be offering a new batch for naming—so check out our first round, stay tuned, and get ready to be part of Vidiots history.
